Phil Lord and Chris Miller certainly chose the right day to let news leak about their latest project. The team behind the Jump Street films and The Lego Movie, as well as The Last Man on Earth, are set to produce a new time travel TV show.
It’s called In Time, but don’t get it confused with the 2011 Justin Timberlake movie. In this version, “three friends try to balance the adventure of time travel with the mundane concerns of their present day lives.”
Lord and Miller will produce the show from Family Guy and Cleveland Show writer Julius Sharpe. Fox gave the show a pilot commitment, so at least one episode will get made. From there, it’s up to the show itself.
While Lord and Miller have been spending their days shepherding a bunch of projects, such as this one, Last Man, Lego sequels and more, their next feature film will be the untitled Han Solo Star Wars anthology film set for release in 2018. They’re a duo obviously well-versed in sci-fi and the fact In Time got announced on Back to the Future day is almost certainly not coincidence.
