Maybe We've All Been Wrong About the Ultimate Villains of Batman v Superman

Gambit is on the hunt for a new director. Gotham teases the arrival of another character from the comics: this time, a hero. Mulder and Scully are on the case in a new X-Files clip. Plus, Alan Tudyk talks Rogue One, amazing new Doctor Who pictures, and a good look at Agents of SHIELD’s new Inhuman. Spoilers!

Batman v Superman

For months, we’ve been hearing rumors that the DC comics villain Doomsday appears in the film in some way—perhaps as a final weapon created by Lex Luthor—to the point where it’s almost become accepted as fact. But maybe that’s not the case. A confirmed VFX artist for the film took to instagram to celebrate the wrap of the film—and answered a fan’s question about Doomsday’s CG model for the film. The artist responded that Doomsday was not in the film, but instead may appear in either Justice League or a potential Man of Steel 2.

The post—and the account attached to it—were promptly deleted shortly after, potentially adding some veracity to the talk—but otherwise, it’s perhaps best to treat this as rumor for now. [Batman-News]

Star Wars: Rogue One

Alan Tudyk discusses the practicality of the sets for the film:

You are amazed at what you can look at, because it is a physical world. If there are creatures, then there are creatures; if there are spaceships, then there are spaceships. It’s not huge swaths of green hung from the rafters. You have it all there, and if you don’t have it there then you go fly some place that does.

Gambit

The film—and more specifically, star Channing Tatum himself—has allegedly approached Doug Liman with an offer to direct the film in the wake of Rupert Wyatt’s departure.

Underworld 5

The fifth film in the franchise has begun production, heading to Prague for location filming. [Shock Till You Drop]

BrainDead

Aaron Tveit has been cast in the CBS show about aliens who invade Washington and eat the brains of Congressmen and staffers. Tveit will play Gareth, a “hard-working Republican operative blessed with equal parts wit and logic. He works as the legislative director to a top senator, and is ultimately responsible for helping to save the world”. [EW]

Gotham

Following the show’s introduction of the Order of St. Dumas last night, Executive Producer John Stephens says a story about the conflicted hero Azrael (who at one point took over for Batman in the comics) on the show is the inevitable conclusion to draw from the Order’s arrival:

We will be going deeper into the Order of St. Dumas over the next run of episodes, and it will continue to play an evolving role for the rest of the season. And yes, we wouldn’t be telling an Order of St. Dumas story without also intending to tell an Azrael story. Just keep watching.

Destination Mars

Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy Productions has teamed up with Makever, Star Media and Cynergy Films to create a 10 part sci-fi series. The show will revolve around “a group of international astronauts struggling to survive after they crash land on Mars. While facing the unknown and their worst fears, they discover that the red planet may not be as dead as they believe”. [Indiewire]

Once Upon a Time

Here’s a synopsis for the fifth episode of season 5, “Dreamcatcher”:

In Camelot, as Mary Margaret and David attempt to retrieve the Dark One dagger, Emma uses a Dreamcatcher to look into the past to see how Merlin was transformed into a tree. Together, Emma and Regina figure out the critical ingredient they must acquire to free Merlin, but it’s a race against Arthur, who does not want Merlin released. Meanwhile, with encouragement from his moms, Henry musters up the courage to ask Violet on a date. Back in Storybrooke, the heroes break into Emma’s house hoping to locate Gold, but what they find will give them a glimpse of Emma’s end game. Far from prying eyes, Merida sets about the mission Emma has tasked her with and begins molding Gold into the hero they need to draw Excalibur.
