Darth Vader’s all-black suit, complete with cape, is one of the iconic bad-guy outfits. But could you actually piece all the necessary components together, and if so, how much would it cost?
The folks at Shade Station made a decent approximation of what it would cost to build up a realistic, functional Darth Vader suit. The assumptions are good: it would need to be pressurized, include a voice modifier and augmented reality headset, and also do the breathing for him.
All added together, the ballpark figure is $18.3 million—a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of building a real Death Star.
