Two horror icons are set to star in Midnight Man, the latest from Travis Zariwny, who helmed the recent Cabin Fever remake: Robert Englund, aka Freddy Krueger, and Lin Shaye, who’s probably best-known to genre fans via the Insidious films—though she cameos as a high school teacher in Nightmare on Elm Street.
Aside from the original Elm Street, the actors also co-starred in the 2005 remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis’ gore classic 2001 Maniacs.
Keeping with the theme that’s forming here, Midnight Man is also a remake, according to The Wrap:
“Midnight Man” is based on the old Pagan ritual “The Midnight Game,” though it doubles as an American remake of Rob Kennedy’s low-budget 2013 feature that was made in Ireland. The story follows a girl and her friends who play a game that summons a creature known as The Midnight Man who uses their worst fears against them.
Nothing was revealed about what characters Englund and Shaye would be playing, though veteran villain Englund won’t be portraying the Midnight Man—that’ll be Kyle Strauts, whose imdb profile notches a previous credit doing stunts on Cabin Fever.
