Of Kings and Prophets (10PM, ABC)
Offerings of Blood
Series premiere! This is the “sex-drenched” Bible show that includes sexually explicit scenes that may not be able to be broadcast on ABC—so the online streaming version may actually be racier. Showrunner Chris Brancato told the Television Critics Association that this raw sex and nudity is essential to an accurate depiction of the Biblical story of Samuel 1 and 2, which he called “the world’s first soap opera.” But the show needed major reworking, which is why ABC delayed it from last fall and recast some roles. Now at last, we can see the Bible the way it was always meant to be seen!
