You know the sense of satisfaction you get from conquering an entire planet while playing Risk? Well imagine what it must feel like when you take over an entire galaxy. If that’s not enough reason to try Risk: Star Wars Edition, playing with X-wings and TIE fighters should sweeten the pot.
Available now for $30, this upgraded version of Risk has players competing on a TIE Fighter-shaped board (Darth Vader’s, to be precise), unlike the continent-covered rectangle most of us grew up playing on. And the gameplay in Risk: Star Wars Edition is a little different too.
Players choose their allegiance to either the light or dark side of the Force, and then recreate the final climactic moments of Return of the Jedi through three different battles including the attack on the Death Star, the shield attack on Endor, and the duel between Luke and Darth Vader.
The game is as much reliant on the the roll of the dice as it is on strategy, but no matter which side of the Force prevails, the only real loser will be the relationship between your family members by the time the game is over. [Hasbro]
