Barbara Walters sat down with John Ramsey for her new Investigation Discovery show, “Barbara Walters Presents American Scandals.” It’s been 19 years since baby beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in her home; the Ramsey family wasn’t officially cleared of involvement in 2008.
In this interview snippet, John Ramsey—his wife, JonBenet’s mother Patsy, died of cancer in 2006—says the only way the crime will ever be solved is if a DNA match is made, or if someone who has first-hand knowledge of what really happened decides to come forward. He also talks about a lead that police might have tragically overlooked; how he tried to protect JonBenet’s older brother from reading headlines accusing him of the crime; and how the crime affected the family not just emotionally, but financially.
